Bulle Rock Golf Course
Havre de Grace, Maryland
A Pete Dye design in Havre de Grace northeast of Baltimore, Bulle Rock hosted the LPGA Championship from 2005 to 2009 and is consistently ranked the top public course in Maryland. The 7,375-yard championship layout features Dye's trademark railroad ties, island greens, and bold hazards that create one of the most memorable public experiences on the East Coast.
History & Heritage
Bulle Rock opened in 1998 on a 560-acre estate overlooking the Chesapeake Bay, designed by Pete Dye. Hosted the LPGA Championship five consecutive years (2005-2009, winners include Annika Sorenstam). Ranked No. 1 public/daily-fee course in Maryland and the only 5-star golf facility in the Mid-Atlantic.
Dye made over 100 site visits during construction — extraordinary commitment. Classic Dye: railroad ties, pot bunkers, water hazards, visual intimidation with more room than you think.
Signature Holes
One of Dye\'s trademark visually intimidating par 3s with railroad ties and water. The course features his full arsenal across the hilly 7,375-yard championship layout.
What to Expect
Classic Pete Dye on hilly terrain — visually intimidating but fairer than it looks. Bent grass tee to green. 275-acre playing corridor at daily-fee rates makes it the best public value in the region.
Public at $60-120 between Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C.
Playing Tips
Trust your yardage, not your eyes — Dye\'s optical illusions are everywhere.
The course plays longer than the card due to elevation. Miss to the correct side — Dye always leaves a bail-out area.
