CordeValle Golf Club
San Martin, California
Host of the 2016 U.S. Women's Open at the Rosewood CordeValle resort, this RTJ Jr. design occupies a stunning valley floor in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains south of San Jose. The championship layout features dramatic elevation changes, native oak corridors, and impeccable conditioning that earned it top resort accolades.
History & Heritage
CordeValle opened in 2000, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. on 260 acres of hillsides and canyons in the Santa Cruz Mountain foothills. Part of the Rosewood luxury resort. Hosted PGA Tour events (2010-2013) and the 2016 U.S. Women\'s Open (won by Brittany Lang). Renovated by Todd Charlton, reopening 2019.
The only Bay Area course to host a U.S. Women\'s Open. The resort offers bungalow accommodations, spa, and on-site winery.
Signature Holes
A par 5 sweeping through the oak-studded valley with dramatic elevation and a risk-reward finish befitting a championship closer. The figure-eight routing through creeks and meadows culminates here.
What to Expect
Par 72, 7,360 yards (slope 141). Tree-lined fairways, bent grass greens, Augusta-style white-sand bunkers. The layout traces through creeks, meadows, and golden hillsides.
Resort guest access at $200-350. Otherwise private.
Playing Tips
Accuracy off the tee — tree-lined corridors and canyon edges punish wayward shots. Prepare for uphill/downhill lies. Wind funnels through hill gaps.
