Part of the Sunriver Resort in Central Oregon, Crosswater is a Bob Cupp design that plays through meadow, marshland, and along the Deschutes and Little Deschutes rivers. At 7,693 yards from the tips, it's one of the longest resort courses in the Pacific Northwest, with Cascade Mountain views providing a stunning backdrop.

History & Heritage

Crosswater Club opened in 1995 at Sunriver Resort in Central Oregon, designed by Bob Cupp, who had previously served as senior designer for Jack Nicklaus for 15 years. The course was immediately recognized as a showcase for Central Oregon golf, earning a spot on Golf Digest's list of America's 100 Greatest Public Courses.

Cupp routed the layout through meadows, wetlands, and along both the Deschutes and Little Deschutes rivers, with the Cascade Mountains — including Mount Bachelor, Broken Top, and the Three Sisters — providing a panoramic backdrop. The design is more subtle than dramatic, with low-profile greens edged by graceful chipping areas.

Bob Cupp passed away in 2016, but Crosswater remains one of his finest achievements and a centerpiece of the Sunriver Resort experience. The course continues to be recognized among the best resort courses in America.

Signature Holes

5
Hole 5 Par 4 · 445 yards

A par 4 along the Deschutes River with Cascade Mountain views. The approach must respect the river running along the hole.

12
Hole 12 Par 3 · 215 yards

A long par 3 with the Little Deschutes River as a backdrop. At altitude the thin air helps, but the distance is still demanding.

15
Hole 15 Par 5 · 580 yards

A sweeping par 5 through the river meadow with wetlands framing the fairway. Risk-reward decisions at every stage.

18
Hole 18 Par 4 · 460 yards

A strong finisher with river and mountain views providing a memorable conclusion to the round.

What to Expect

Crosswater is a Central Oregon gem set in river meadows with Cascade Mountain panoramas. The Bob Cupp design is elegant rather than overpowering, with low-profile greens and natural features integrated seamlessly. At 7,693 yards it is long, but the altitude helps.

The resort setting at Sunriver provides accommodations and activities for non-golfers. The course is accessible to resort guests and public players.

Playing Tips

The Central Oregon altitude (about 4,200 feet) adds distance. Club down from your normal selections. The thin air also means the ball curves less.

Morning dew and riverside conditions can make early rounds play soft. Afternoon winds often pick up. The meadow terrain is walkable but distances between holes may require a cart.
