History & Heritage

Fieldstone Golf Club opened in 1998, designed by Arthur Hills as a municipally owned course operated by the city of Auburn Hills. Despite its public status, it has been consistently ranked among the top three public courses in southeast Michigan for over two decades.

Hills designed the layout to integrate the area\'s diverse natural landscape of wetlands, rolling terrain, and mature hardwoods. The 40-station bent grass driving range with four target greens provides one of the better practice facilities in the area.

Part of a well-regarded finishing stretch demanding solid shots to close out a round. Forced carries, strategic bunkering, and the rolling Oakland County terrain create memorable closing holes.

What to Expect

A scenic, well-conditioned course with genuine variety — both short and long holes, doglegs in both directions, and a mix of open and tree-lined corridors. Wetlands and rolling terrain give it more visual drama than a typical municipal course.

Conditioning is generally strong with fast, consistent bent grass greens and well-maintained bunkers. Forced carries over wetlands appear on several holes.

Semi-private/public at $45-85 — excellent value for an Arthur Hills design in the Detroit metro.

Playing Tips

Accuracy off the tee matters more than length. Forced carries over wetlands punish wild shots.

Several holes narrow at the typical landing zone. Fairway-finder clubs are often the smart play.

The greens are quick — leave yourself below the hole when possible.

This is a course that rewards middle-of-the-fairway golf.
