Home of the University of Oklahoma golf program, Jimmie Austin has hosted multiple NCAA Regional events. The Bob Cupp renovation transformed the original 1951 layout into a modern championship test through rolling terrain with strategic bunkering, native grass areas, and views of Lake Thunderbird in the distance.
History & Heritage
Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club was originally designed by Perry Maxwell in 1950-51, totally rebuilt by Robert Cupp in 1996 (funded by OU alumnus Jimmie Austin), and further renovated by Tripp Davis in 2017 (five new holes). Hosted a Korn Ferry Tour event in 2023.
Maxwell\'s trademark undulating greens survive through all renovations. 13 of 18 holes face south — strategically important given Oklahoma\'s prevailing south winds. Three distinct architectural layers: Maxwell, Cupp, Davis.

Woodland course with mature trees framing most holes. Maxwell\'s classic strategic routing feels authentic despite modern renovations. Excellent university-level maintenance. Also features the Ransom Course, a four-hole practice loop.

Maxwell\'s greens are famously subtle and deceptive. Club up on approaches — greens are firm and reject weak shots.
