History & Heritage
Kinloch Golf Club was designed by Lester George and former U.S. Amateur champion Vinny Giles — their first collaboration — opening in 2001 on exceptional rolling terrain in Goochland County west of Richmond. A 19-hole layout (the extra hole settles matches).
Consistently ranked No. 1 in Virginia and No. 66 on Golf Digest\'s America\'s 100 Greatest. Hosted the 2024 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship. Walking with caddies is the preferred mode of play.
Signature Holes
A short Redan-style par 3 set hard against a lake. Classic right-to-left orientation with the green angled away — demanding precise club selection despite the short yardage.
What to Expect
Wide open corridors with rolling topography creating varied stances and lies. Bentgrass throughout in immaculate condition. Traditional, understated Golden Age-style design — no gimmicks, just strategic options on every hole.
Strictly private — No. 1 in Virginia, top-100 nationally.
Playing Tips
Course management over length. Rolling terrain creates deceptive lies. Greens reward correct-quadrant play over pin-hunting.
