Palmetto Bluff - May River Golf Club
Bluffton, South Carolina
A Jack Nicklaus Signature design at the Montage Palmetto Bluff, May River winds through pristine Lowcountry landscape along the banks of the May River. The layout through live oak canopies, tidal marshes, and native Lowcountry terrain delivers one of the most beautiful rounds in the Southeast.
History & Heritage
May River Golf Club at Montage Palmetto Bluff was designed by Jack Nicklaus as a Signature Course (personally overseeing every aspect) and opened in 2004. Named South Carolina\'s "Best New Course" the year it opened. Set within the 20,000-acre Palmetto Bluff community in Bluffton.
The routing winds through four distinct forest types — upland pine, maritime, live oaks, and hardwood — along the banks of the May River. A Coore & Crenshaw course is being added to the community.
Access available to Montage Palmetto Bluff resort guests.
Signature Holes
One of several holes brushing directly along the May River banks, with 300-year-old live oaks creating cathedral-like corridors. The river views and natural beauty make this stretch unforgettable.
What to Expect
Wide, inviting fairways past centuries-old live oaks and along the May River. Four distinct forest types give each stretch a unique character. The greens provide the real defense — more complex than they first appear.
Access through Montage Palmetto Bluff resort. Private for non-guests.
