Ozaukee Country Club
Mequon, Wisconsin
A Langford & Moreau Golden Age design in Mequon, Ozaukee Country Club features the architects' hallmark dramatic green complexes and strategic bunkering. The mature parkland layout along the Milwaukee River has been sensitively restored to honor the original vision of two of Chicago's most celebrated pre-war architects.
History & Heritage
Ozaukee Country Club was founded in 1922 along the Milwaukee River in Mequon, designed by Golden Age architects William Langford and Theodore Moreau. One of the finest surviving Langford/Moreau designs in the Midwest, with sophisticated green contouring comparable to their famous work at Lawsonia Links.
Hosted the 2014 Wisconsin State Amateur. All bent grass on tees, fairways, and greens. The green complexes show dramatic contours that are the course\'s primary defense.
Signature Holes
An approach to a triple-tiered green that plays fast and punishes misreads. Langford\'s trademark undulating surfaces give the course serious teeth despite not being overly long.
What to Expect
A par-70 at roughly 6,700 yards — not overly long, but Langford\'s trademark undulating fast greens give it serious teeth. Mature parkland along the Milwaukee River. Nine par 4s over 400 yards.
This is a short-game course. Approach precision and putting on contoured greens matter far more than distance.
Strictly private — one of Milwaukee\'s most respected clubs.
Playing Tips
Land the ball in the correct green section or face three-putts. Many greens feature subtle tiers and false fronts.
The course demands a complete game rather than raw power.
