History & Heritage
Raspberry Falls is Virginia\'s only Gary Player Signature Design course, opened in 1996 in Loudoun County horse country north of Leesburg. Located on rolling terrain with Blue Ridge Mountain views, the course earned 4 stars from Golf Digest.
A recent renovation added revetted, pot-style bunkers reminiscent of Scottish links, giving the layout a unique blend of Virginia parkland and links character. Natural water hazards come into play on seven holes.
Signature Holes
A long par 4 with significant elevation change — a true Gary Player design test. The rolling Virginia horse country terrain creates a demanding tee shot and approach on one of the course\'s most challenging holes.
What to Expect
Rolling terrain with considerable elevation changes across open, non-parallel fairways. The revetted pot-style bunkers add a links feel to the Virginia parkland setting. Pastoral scenery throughout — horse farms and Blue Ridge Mountain ridgelines frame the round.
Water hazards on seven holes. The open terrain means wind can be a significant factor on exposed hillside holes.
Public access at $45-85 — strong value for the only Gary Player Signature course in the Mid-Atlantic.
Playing Tips
Water hazards on nearly half the holes punish wayward drives. Bring extra balls.
The open terrain exposes shots to wind — club selection on elevated par 3s is critical.
The revetted bunkers play differently than standard American bunkers. Expect steeper faces requiring more loft to escape.
