History & Heritage

Rio Secco Golf Club (recently rebranded as Serket Golf Club but still widely known as Rio Secco) opened in 1997, designed by Rees Jones in the foothills of Henderson southeast of the Las Vegas Strip. The layout features three distinct six-hole segments: six holes through dramatic desert canyons and arroyos, six on a plateau with panoramic valley views, and six along a ridgeline.

The course is home to the famous Butch Harmon School of Golf, where countless tour professionals have trained — one of the most renowned instruction facilities in the world. The combination of championship golf and world-class instruction makes Rio Secco unique in the Las Vegas market.

Signature Holes

18
Hole 18 Par 5 · 634 yards

A massive finishing hole with panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip in the distance. At 634 yards, it is one of the longest and most memorable closers in the Vegas market — a three-shot challenge with a dramatic backdrop.

16
Hole 16 Par 4 · 440 yards

Plays beneath what was Butch Harmon\'s home with sweeping canyon views. A demanding tee shot sets up an approach with one of the most dramatic backdrops on the course.

What to Expect

Three distinct six-hole segments each with a completely different feel: canyon holes are visually stunning with forced carries over arroyos; plateau holes offer sweeping valley and Strip views; ridgeline holes provide elevated drama.

Elevation changes are significant throughout. The canyon holes demand target golf — pick conservative lines and accept par. The plateau and ridge holes reward aggressive play with proper wind management.

The Butch Harmon School of Golf on-site is one of the most famous instruction facilities in the world. Consider booking a lesson as a complement to your round.

Playing Tips

The canyon holes (typically 7-12) demand target golf. Pick conservative lines off the tee and accept par on these dramatic holes.

Elevation changes affect club selection dramatically. Downhill holes play shorter; uphill holes play much longer than the card suggests.

Wind at the higher elevations can be a significant factor, especially in afternoon rounds.

Desert air and elevation mean the ball flies farther. Factor this into club selection, particularly on the par 3s.
