Sawgrass Country Club - East

Sawgrass Country Club\'s East Course was designed by Ed Seay under Arnold Palmer Course Design Company, opening in 1974. From 1977 to 1981, the East/West combination hosted the Tournament Players Championship (now THE PLAYERS Championship) — the PGA Tour\'s flagship event — before the tournament moved to the newly built TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course in 1982.

Winners at Sawgrass CC include Jack Nicklaus (1978), Lee Trevino (1980), and Raymond Floyd (1981). The South nine was added later, creating 27 holes. Robert Walker later renovated the layout.

The course sits directly adjacent to TPC Sawgrass — neighbors with deep shared history.
