Sunriver Resort - Meadows Course
Sunriver, Oregon
A John Fought redesign at Sunriver Resort, the Meadows Course offers an accessible mountain resort experience through meadow and pine forest terrain. The layout features views of Mount Bachelor and the surrounding Cascades, with strategic water hazards and well-conditioned bent grass surfaces.
History & Heritage
Sunriver\'s Meadows Course was completely redesigned in 1999 by John Fought (former U.S. Amateur Champion). Seven holes border the meandering Sun River. The course has hosted numerous USGA and NCAA championships.
In 2024, Meadows transitioned to private status under the new Sunriver Golf Club, though resort guests still get access. The most approachable of Sunriver\'s courses — designed to be fun and scenic rather than brutally difficult.
Signature Holes
A picturesque par 3 over a pond and wetlands with Mount Bachelor towering in the background. One of the most photographed holes in Central Oregon. Club selection and nerve tested on this carry-over-water shot.
What to Expect
Par 71 through ponderosa pine forest with seven holes along the Sun River. Water on several holes (particularly the front-nine 2-3-4 stretch). Mount Bachelor dominates the skyline. Accessible and scenic rather than brutally difficult.
Resort guests pay resort green fees at $60-120. Gray\'s Trail 18-hole putting course on site is a fun complement.
Playing Tips
Accuracy over power throughout. Water is the main hazard — especially the front nine\'s early stretch running down the left on holes 2-4.
The dogleg-left 18th brings a large pond into play for the closing approach. Finish with discipline.
