History & Heritage

Founded in 1882 as one of America's oldest country clubs and a founding USGA member in 1894. Golf established 1893, later redesigned by William Flynn.

Francis Ouimet's 1913 U.S. Open playoff victory here over Vardon and Ray democratized American golf. Also hosted the 1963 and 1988 U.S. Opens, the famous 1999 Ryder Cup comeback, and the 2022 U.S. Open won by Matt Fitzpatrick.
