History & Heritage

TPC Tampa Bay opened in 1991 in Lutz, Florida, designed by PGA TOUR Chief Architect Bobby Weed with PGA Tour legend Chi Chi Rodriguez as player consultant. Rodriguez's flair and Weed's technical expertise produced a course earning a rating of 73.9 and slope of 139 from the tips — among the toughest in the Tampa Bay region.

The layout winds through approximately 88 bunkers, extensive natural wetlands, cypress heads, and lagoons that define nearly every hole. TPC Tampa Bay has hosted multiple PGA Tour Champions events, and Chi Chi Rodriguez helped promote the course as a public-access showcase in the greater Tampa area.

Signature Holes

18
Hole 18 Par 4 · 432 yards

The most memorable finishing hole at TPC Tampa Bay. Water guards the left side from tee to green, and the approach must carry to a shallow green with sand protecting the right.

12
Hole 12 Par 3 · 175 yards

One of several excellent one-shotters on the course, the 12th plays to a green nearly surrounded by water, demanding precise carry and club selection.

What to Expect

TPC Tampa Bay delivers a tournament-caliber experience in a public-access setting. Bobby Weed's routing through native Florida wetlands creates an authentic sense of place, with wildlife sightings common throughout. The 88-plus bunkers keep every approach honest, while the lagoons and cypress heads add both beauty and peril.

Playing Tips

From the tips this is one of Tampa's hardest courses — most recreational golfers will enjoy the round more from the middle tees. Water comes into play on nearly every hole; err toward the dry side. The greens are large and subtly contoured — lag putting is essential.
