History & Heritage

Trophy Lake Golf & Casting Club opened in 1999, designed by John Fought — a 1977 U.S. Amateur champion later inducted into the Pacific Northwest Golf Hall of Fame. The course was carved through dense Northwest forest on the Kitsap Peninsula and built around a unique fishing-lodge concept.

Beyond championship golf, the facility includes stocked ponds for fly fishing and casting — one of extremely few courses in the country combining golf with angling. The secluded forest setting makes it feel miles from civilization.

Routinely rated among the best public venues in Washington State with a course rating of 74.9 and slope of 140 from the back tees.

What to Expect

A secluded woodland layout with over 80 bunkers averaging 4-5 per hole — among the most elaborately bunkered public courses in the region. Wide fairways invite aggressive play but the deep, ornate bunkers punish misses severely.

Dramatic elevation changes throughout the dense Pacific Northwest forest. The fishing-lodge-style clubhouse and stocked trophy lake create a unique atmosphere combining outdoor recreation with championship golf.

Olympic Mountain views appear throughout the round.

Playing Tips

Fairways are wide — take driver confidently. But avoid the deep bunkers at all costs; recovery from the deeper ones costs a full stroke.

Elevation changes are significant. Club selection on approaches requires careful attention to uphill/downhill shots.

The secluded setting means little wind protection — be aware of gusts through the tree corridors.
