History & Heritage

Woodmont Country Club traces its origins to 1913, with William Flynn designing the North Course at the current Rockville site (opened 1927). Flynn — one of the most celebrated Golden Age architects, also responsible for Shinnecock Hills and Merion — created a classic parkland layout later renovated by Arthur Hills. A second 18 (South Course, Alfred Tull, 1950) makes Woodmont a 36-hole facility.

The club has hosted the 120th U.S. Women\'s Amateur (2020), U.S. Open Final Qualifying over 40 times since 1986, and is selected for the 2025-2026 U.S. Adaptive Opens and 2028 U.S. Junior Amateur — one of the most prolific USGA host sites in the mid-Atlantic.

What to Expect

Playing Tips

Flynn greens reward shots approaching from the correct angle. Study pin positions carefully.

Course management and accuracy off the tee are more valuable than length on this classic parkland layout.
