Daniel Island Club - Ralston Creek
Charleston, South Carolina
A Rees Jones design on Daniel Island in Charleston Harbor, Ralston Creek winds through Lowcountry marsh and maritime forest with sweeping views of the Wando River. The private layout features strategic tidal creek hazards and immaculate conditioning in an upscale island community.
History & Heritage
Daniel Island Club\'s Ralston Creek Course was designed by Rees Jones and opened in 2006 as the second of two championship courses on Daniel Island (Tom Fazio\'s Beresford Creek opened in 2000). At 7,446 yards from the tips, it winds through Lowcountry marsh and maritime forest with the Wando River shaping the routing.
Jones ("The Open Doctor") brought the same strategic rigor he uses on major championship venues. The two courses offer contrasting philosophies — Fazio\'s more parkland Beresford Creek versus Jones\'s more exposed, links-influenced Ralston Creek. Both are nationally ranked.
Signature Holes
One of several holes playing along or toward the Wando River, with tidal marsh views and creek hazards creating visual drama and strategic challenge. The links-influenced exposure to wind makes it play differently every day.
What to Expect
A long, demanding private layout at nearly 7,450 yards from the tips. Rees Jones\'s emphasis on strategic angles off the tee and challenging approaches to well-defended greens. Tidal marsh and the Wando River create natural hazards throughout.
The club describes choosing between Beresford Creek and Ralston Creek as being like choosing between pecan and peach pie.
Private — Daniel Island community about 20 minutes from downtown Charleston.
Playing Tips
Tee shot placement is critical — Jones creates holes where approach angle matters as much as distance.
Play correct tees. At 7,446 yards from the back, this is a significant test.
