Private Club · 18 Holes · Par 72 · 7,379 yds · Members Only · 4.6

One of Atlanta's newest premier private clubs, Echelon offers a Rees Jones design set on 340 acres of rolling North Georgia terrain. The course features dramatic elevation changes uncommon in Metro Atlanta and pristine conditioning.

History & Heritage

Echelon Golf Club opened in 2006 in Alpharetta, Georgia, designed by Rees Jones — the Open Doctor celebrated for his preparation of US Open venues including Bethpage Black. The course was originally conceived as the centerpiece of a luxury residential community and was branded as The Georgia Tech Golf Club in its early years.

Rees Jones built the layout on some of the steepest, most challenging terrain in metro Atlanta, creating dramatic elevation changes, powerful bunkering, and sweeping views unusual for metropolitan golf. At 7,558 yards from the tips with a par of 72, Echelon demands accurate, powerful golf throughout. The course is now accessible to non-members and has developed a reputation as one of Georgia's most difficult and visually impressive layouts.

Signature Holes

13
Hole 13 Par 4 · 462 yards

One of Alpharetta's most dramatic golf holes, the 13th descends sharply from an elevated tee before climbing back to a plateau green with views of the surrounding Georgia hills.

Hole 1 Par 4 · 440 yards

The opening hole signals the course's intention immediately — a demanding par 4 through a corridor of steep terrain requiring a drive that threads narrow landing areas to set up any realistic scoring opportunity.

What to Expect

Echelon delivers an uncompromising championship experience in Atlanta's northern suburbs. Rees Jones's decision to build on demanding topography created a course that respects no handicap — powerful bunkering, bold elevation changes, and immense greens make this one of Georgia's most challenging tracks.

Playing Tips

Club selection is critical at Echelon — elevation changes affect carry distances significantly, especially on approach shots. The bentgrass greens tend to be firmer and faster than most Atlanta courses. Leave the ego at home and play a tee that lets you enjoy the course.
