TPC Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Public Course · 18 Holes · Par 72 · 6,950 yds · $80–$150 · 4.4

A Tom Fazio design built to TPC standards, this layout in Murrells Inlet delivers championship golf through Lowcountry wetlands and maritime forest. The polished conditioning and strategic layout offer a premium Myrtle Beach experience.

History & Heritage

TPC Myrtle Beach opened in 1999, designed by Tom Fazio as part of the PGA Tour\'s Tournament Players Club network — the only TPC-branded course in the Myrtle Beach area. The course hosted the Senior PGA Tour Championship in 2000, won by Tom Watson.

Now a member of Founders Group International and part of the Hammock Coast Golf Trail, TPC Myrtle Beach delivers championship conditioning and Fazio\'s masterful integration of Lowcountry wetlands, maritime forest, and native grasses. The course carries a formidable 144 slope from the tips.

Fairways are described as "plush as carpet" — Tour-caliber conditioning that feels private despite being open to the public.

Signature Holes

17
Hole 17 Par 3 · 193 yards

The standout hole — a peninsula green that presents a formidable challenge and is considered the course\'s best. Accuracy is mandatory; anything missing the green faces a difficult recovery. Take enough club and commit to the shot.

18
Hole 18 Par 5 · 530 yards

A risk-reward closer with water guarding the approach for those going for the green in two. The hole has decided many matches — weigh risk versus reward carefully on the second shot.

5
Hole 5 Par 3 · 158 yards

The shortest hole but one of the most challenging. A deceptive par 3 with a difficult green complex that demands precise distance control despite the modest yardage.

What to Expect

TPC Myrtle Beach weaves through forests of red oak and pine, around Lowcountry marshes and picturesque wetlands. Tom Fazio masterfully incorporated the natural landscape into every hole. The course feels private despite being open to the public.

At 6,950 yards with a 144 slope from the tips, this is a genuine championship test. MiniVerde bermuda greens are fast and challenging. The par 3s are the course\'s teeth — all four demand respect.

Conditioning is consistently praised as among the best on the Grand Strand. The TPC pedigree ensures professional-level maintenance standards.

Playing Tips

Choose tees carefully. The 144 slope from the tips is formidable. The white tees at 6,133 yards (138 slope) provide a strong but more enjoyable challenge for most golfers.

The par 3s are the course\'s defining holes. Respect all four — the 17th\'s peninsula green especially demands accuracy.

On the par-5 18th, water guards the green for those going for it in two. Unless you have a reliable long approach, lay up to a comfortable wedge distance.

Lowcountry afternoon winds can be a factor. Morning tee times typically offer calmer conditions.

Fairways are generous but the approach shots demand precision. Fast MiniVerde greens punish anything above the hole.
