Trump National Golf Club Charlotte
Charlotte, North Carolina
A Greg Norman design built on Lake Norman's shoreline, this club features 23 holes (18-hole championship + 5-hole short course) with dramatic lakefront views and premium conditioning.
History & Heritage
The property that became Trump National Golf Club Charlotte was originally developed as The Point Golf Club, with a Greg Norman-designed course opening in 1999 in Mooresville, North Carolina, along the shores of Lake Norman. The layout was built within a luxury residential community north of Charlotte.
In 2012, the Trump Organization acquired the property and renamed it Trump National Golf Club Charlotte. Significant renovations and enhancements followed, expanding the facility to 23 total holes including the 18-hole championship course and a 5-hole short course. The championship layout was stretched to 7,495 yards from the back tees.
The club sits on prime Lake Norman waterfront with over a mile of shoreline, providing dramatic views and several holes that play along or near the lake. The Greg Norman design emphasizes wide fairways with strategic bunkering and challenging green complexes.
Signature Holes
A stunning par 3 that plays directly toward Lake Norman. The water backdrop creates one of the most scenic tee shots in the Charlotte area.
A demanding par 4 along the lakefront with water visible throughout. The approach requires precision to avoid strategic bunkering.
A risk-reward par 5 with Lake Norman views. Long hitters can reach in two but must navigate bunkers and slopes protecting the green complex.
A strong finishing hole that plays back toward the clubhouse with lake views. The demanding par 4 requires two quality shots to reach the well-defended green.
What to Expect
Trump National Charlotte is a meticulously maintained private club with premium conditioning throughout. The Greg Norman design features wide Bermuda fairways and challenging green complexes across rolling terrain along Lake Norman. Multiple tee options accommodate all skill levels.
The 5-hole short course provides a unique practice and casual play option. The lakefront clubhouse and facilities are upscale.
Playing Tips
Norman's design rewards strategic thinking over raw power. The wide fairways invite aggressive tee shots, but position matters for approach angles into the greens. Several holes feature false fronts and runoff areas that punish short approaches.
Lake Norman can create breezy conditions, especially on the lakefront holes. Factor in wind when selecting clubs on exposed holes. The Bermuda greens can be grainy, so pay attention to grain direction when putting.
