Vanderbilt Legends Club
Nashville, Tennessee
Named in honor of Vanderbilt University, Legends Club in Franklin offers 36 holes designed by Tom Kite and Bob Cupp. The two courses — Irish and Scottish themed — wind through Middle Tennessee horse country with excellent conditioning at accessible prices.
History & Heritage
Vanderbilt Legends Club opened its North Course in 1992 and added the South Course later, designed by Bob Cupp and 19-time PGA Tour winner/U.S. Open champion Tom Kite. The 36-hole facility in Franklin serves as the home course for Vanderbilt University\'s men\'s and women\'s golf teams.
The North Course carries an "Irish" theme while the South Course reflects a "Scottish" character, each with distinct design personalities. The club has hosted LPGA Tour events, U.S. Senior Open Qualifying, and Korn Ferry Tour events — establishing serious competitive credentials.
At 1500 Legends Club Lane in the heart of Middle Tennessee horse country, the facility is one of the premier 36-hole complexes in the Nashville/Franklin area.
Signature Holes
On the North Course — one of three defining holes (along with 16 and 18) that most impact a player\'s final score. Execute well here and you can elevate your round; stumble and the card suffers.
The North Course closer — another swing hole where the outcome often determines whether a good round finishes strong or falls apart. A demanding par 4 to close.
What to Expect
Two distinct 18-hole courses with Irish and Scottish themes wind through Middle Tennessee horse country in Franklin. The North Course (par 72, approximately 7,190 yards, slope 132) features a mix of open and wooded terrain. The South Course (par 71, approximately 7,100 yards, slope 132) has more elevation changes.
Both courses are kept in excellent condition. As home to Vanderbilt Commodores golf and host of professional tour events, the facility maintains championship standards. Tom Kite\'s Tour-caliber design sensibility is evident throughout.
The semi-private format provides broader access than a fully private club.
Playing Tips
The South Course has more hidden trouble — play conservatively until you know the layout.
Elevation changes on both courses affect club selection significantly. Don\'t trust your eyes; use a rangefinder.
On the North Course, holes 2, 16, and 18 are the swing holes that define your score. Execute well on these and you can post a strong number.
The horse country setting means morning fog can affect early tee times in spring and fall.
