Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne
Miami, Florida
Set on the barrier island of Key Biscayne with Biscayne Bay and Atlantic Ocean views, Crandon is one of America's most scenic municipal courses. Saltwater lagoons, mangrove-lined fairways, and ocean breezes create a truly tropical golf experience.
History & Heritage
Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne opened in 1972, designed by the celebrated architectural partnership of Robert von Hagge and Bruce Devlin. The course occupies a stunning barrier island setting within Crandon Park on Key Biscayne — just minutes from downtown Miami — surrounded by Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
The 7th hole earned the distinction of being named One of the Greatest Holes in Golf. The course hosted the Miccosukee Championship on the PGA Tour Champions circuit for over a decade. Golf Digest awarded the course four stars and recognized it among the Top 75 courses in the United States.
Signature Holes
Named One of the Greatest Holes in Golf, the 7th is a sharp right-to-left dogleg where bold players can cut the corner over water for a short approach, while cautious players face a long second shot from the safe zone.
The finishing hole has water along both sides of the fairway and a spectacular green complex open to Biscayne Bay. A risk-reward par 5 that invites aggressive play while punishing the errant shot.
What to Expect
Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne offers a one-of-a-kind tropical golf experience. The barrier island setting surrounds the course with Biscayne Bay views, mangroves, and exotic wildlife, while the von Hagge/Devlin design provides a championship-caliber test. The trade winds off the Atlantic regularly affect club selection, adding a coastal element seldom found on public courses.
Playing Tips
The trade winds off Biscayne Bay affect club selection throughout — always check the wind direction before hitting. The 7th hole's aggressive corner carry is tempting but risky when wind is against you. Afternoon storms are frequent in summer — book a morning time.
