Quarry Pines Golf Club

Tucson, Arizona

Public Course · 18 Holes · Par 71 · 6,601 yds · $35–$75 · 4.1

Built in a former quarry south of Tucson, Quarry Pines offers one of the best public golf values in southern Arizona. The compact layout uses the quarry's dramatic rock walls to frame several memorable holes, creating visual interest that belies its affordable green fees.

History & Heritage

Quarry Pines Golf Club is Arizona's only quarry golf course, built on the edge of a 90-plus acre, 100-foot-deep sand and gravel quarry in Marana near Tucson. Architect Brian Huntley designed the layout, which was later renovated to relocate ten holes into the old quarry, mostly on the back nine.

The quarry setting creates dramatic elevation changes and rock wall backdrops unlike anything else in southern Arizona golf. The course offers accessible public golf at affordable pricing while delivering a visually stunning experience.

KemperSports was selected to manage the facility in 2024, bringing professional course management to maintain and improve the unique property.

Signature Holes

10
Hole 10 Par 4 · 380 yards

The first hole playing into the quarry with 100-foot rock walls creating a dramatic amphitheater setting.

13
Hole 13 Par 3 · 165 yards

A scenic par 3 within the quarry where rock walls frame the green and create a unique enclosed atmosphere.

15
Hole 15 Par 4 · 400 yards

A challenging par 4 using the quarry elevation changes. The approach plays significantly downhill to a green surrounded by rock formations.

18
Hole 18 Par 5 · 525 yards

A finishing par 5 that climbs out of the quarry, providing a dramatic conclusion with views across the Tucson valley.

What to Expect

The quarry holes are the star attraction. Playing 100 feet below the surrounding terrain with massive rock walls as backdrops is unlike any other golf experience in Arizona. The non-quarry holes play through more traditional desert terrain.

At 6,601 yards par 71, the course is not brutally long. The value is exceptional for the visual drama provided.

Playing Tips

The quarry holes play differently from the surface holes due to wind patterns and elevation. Shots within the quarry are sheltered from wind but elevation changes affect distance.

Desert heat in summer is intense. Early morning tee times and adequate hydration are essential from May through September.
