Salt Lake City, Utah

Public Course · 18 Holes · Par 72 · 6,824 yds · $30–$50 · 4.2

Salt Lake City's best-loved municipal course, Bonneville sits at the mouth of Emigration Canyon with stunning views of the Wasatch Front. The classic William Bell design has served the community since 1929 with a challenging hillside routing, mature trees, and one of the most scenic backdrops of any municipal course in the West.

History & Heritage

Bonneville Golf Course first opened in 1929 as one of Salt Lake City's earliest public courses. The original nine was designed by Willie Bell on hilly terrain at the mouth of Emigration Canyon on the east bench with stunning Wasatch Front views.

William P. and William F. Bell redesigned the course in the 1950s and added an upper nine in 1957, creating the current 18-hole layout. The hilly terrain and ravine create dramatic elevation changes unusual for a municipal course.

Bonneville remains one of Utah's most-played courses and has hosted numerous state amateur championships throughout its nearly century-long history.

What to Expect

Bonneville is renowned for hilly terrain and challenging greens on the east bench. The lower nine plays through the original routing while the upper nine climbs into the foothills with expansive valley and mountain views.

Green fees are $30 to $50 with Wasatch Front views among the best of any public course in the West.

Playing Tips

The hilly terrain creates many uneven lies. The upper nine is particularly steep requiring sidehill and uphill shots.

At roughly 4,300 feet elevation, the ball carries farther than at sea level. Adjust club selection especially on downhill holes.
