The Landings Club - Marshwood

Savannah, Georgia

Private Club · 18 Holes · Par 72 · 6,826 yds · Members Only · 4.5

The original course at The Landings on Skidaway Island, Marshwood is an Arnold Palmer design routed through Lowcountry marsh and maritime forest. The layout features tidal creek hazards, moss-draped live oaks, and scenic views of the Vernon River that define Savannah's coastal golf experience.

History & Heritage

Marshwood is the original course at The Landings on Skidaway Island, designed by Arnold Palmer and Frank Duane and opened in July 1974. Tim Liddy completed a comprehensive 2003 redesign, rebuilding greens, tees, and bunkers while updating drainage and irrigation.

The Landings now features six championship courses by Palmer, Tom Fazio, Arthur Hills, and Willard Byrd — one of the largest private club complexes in the Southeast. Located 12 miles from historic Savannah on a barrier island with pristine tidal creek ecosystems.

Signature Holes

15
Hole 15 Par 4 · 400 yards

One of the marsh-edge holes where the fairway runs adjacent to saltwater creeks, demanding both precision and nerve. The Lowcountry marsh vistas and maritime forest framing create the most dramatic scenery on the course.

What to Expect

A blend of parkland corridors through maritime forest with open marsh-vista holes. The Liddy redesign modernized the course while preserving Palmer\'s original routing philosophy. Undulating greens, strategic bunkering, and constant interaction with Lowcountry marsh and hardwood forests.

Part of a six-course private club complex on Skidaway Island. Strictly private — members and guests.

Arnold Palmer\'s personal connection to The Landings was a lifelong relationship.

Playing Tips

Tidal conditions affect wind patterns and the visual intimidation of marsh-side holes. Play away from marsh edges — the penalty for finding wetlands is absolute.

The redesigned greens have more movement than the originals. Study slopes before putting.

The maritime forest corridors demand accuracy off the tee on the parkland holes.
