History & Heritage

The James River Course at the Country Club of Virginia opened June 30, 1928, designed by William Flynn — five years after his acclaimed Cascades course at The Homestead. Rees Jones renovated in 1992; Lester George led a 2003-04 restoration recovering more of Flynn\'s original intent.

Hosted the U.S. Amateur in 1955 and 1975. Current home of the Dominion Energy Charity Classic (PGA Tour Champions, annually since 2016). One of three 18-hole courses at CCV. Consistently ranked among Virginia\'s top private courses.
